2017 PTK Convention

PTK2017From April 6th-9th, three students, Zahra Corion Durante, Nekohya Cheltenham and Shaniece Morgan to-gether with advisor, Mrs. Debra Hodge attended the 99th International Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Convention held in Nashville, TN.  During the three days of excellence, the attendees gained scholarly insights in the Phi Theta Kappa Academy from dynamic speakers and with the opportunity to attend various educational forums.  The students were also able to witness the election for key leadership positions for the coming year, 2017-2018 for International Officers, Association of Chapter Advisors, and Alumni Advisory Council rep-resentatives. This year, our students completed an Honors in Action project assisting the Fort Worth Zoo and the BVI National Parks Trust in monitoring the iguana project in Anegada. Additionally, they engaged their College Project through the delivery of the Leadership Bridge course for the 12th Graders at the Elmore Stoutt High School and the Bregado Flax Educational Centre.  This year the HLSCC chapter captured the Regional Title Awards for Distinguished Chapter, Top 10 Chapters and 5 Star Chapter.  In the International Category, we received awards for the Distinguished Honors In Action Project, Top 100 Chapters and 5 Star Chapter.

We would like to take this opportunity to commend the students and advisors that have worked tirelessly and extend congratulations to everyone involved on the achievements.
