BVI Post Issues Stamp to Mark H. L. Stoutt Birthday PDF
The BVI Post has announced the release of a special collectable item, a framed stamp and summarised biography, to commemorate the birthday of the late Hon. Hamilton Lavity Stoutt, first Chief Minister of the territory.

Retail and Marketing Manager for the BVI Post, Debra James, said the item is a great gift or for anyone interested in H. L. Stoutt’s legacy or the history of the Virgin Islands in general.

“H. L. Stoutt’s birthday is March 7 and after speaking with Postmaster, Kevin Smith, we decided that this would be the best time to honour our very first Chief Minister,” she said.

The stamp is also part of the 50th anniversary celebrations for the Restoration of the Legislative Council Issue released in 2003. Although not new, Ms. James said she is sure the stamp would spark interest in Virgin Islands history.

The stamp will be available from Tuesday 9 March at $80.95 each, and will be on sale at Post Office locations in Road Town, Tortola and the Valley, Virgin Gorda, as well as the BVI Post’s retail store at the Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport, Beef Island.

The BVI Post has been issuing stamps which reflect the Virgin Islands’ natural environment and history for over 125 years.
