HLSCC Puts On Second Soweto Concert |

H. Lavity Stoutt Community College will host a second concert by South Africa’s Soweto Gospel Choir on Thursday 14 January at 4:00 p.m. at the Paraquita Bay Auditorium.
The decision has been taken in response to popular demand from the community to see the Soweto performance, as all tickets for the concert were sold out by Wednesday 6 January, more than a week ahead of the show.
The initial performance, which still stands, will be held that same evening, but at 7:00 p.m., also in the College Auditorium. In all, the Choir is a 52-member group dedicated to sharing the joy of faith through music around the world; the College concerts will however feature 26 performers.
President of HLSCC, Dr. Karl Dawson, said the College initiated discussion with the management of the Soweto Gospel Choir after the overwhelming response to ticket sales, and calls and emails from those who were unable to purchase in time.
“We are therefore pleased to give more people in the community another opportunity to see this once-in-a-lifetime concert,” said Dr. Dawson. “We also express our gratitude to the Soweto performers for agreeing to double up on their show here in the British Virgin Islands.”
Regular tickets for the concert remain $50 each. There are also 30 tickets available for HLSCC staff and faculty at $30 each; 50 for College students at $20 per ticket; and 30 for children at $30 each. These discounted tickets are only available at the HLSCC Bookstore, Paraquita Bay.
Patrons who wish to do trade-ins may do so for tickets of the same value, only at the Bookstore. Other ticket outlets are LIME, Sunny Caribbee, Umi Fashions and Road Town Bakery.
